Adventist Child India
About Us
Dorothy Watts started this program with a dream. Her dream was to help children come out of poverty with the help of education. Giving families hope, that they would not be dropped into the holes of depression and desperation. We as the ACI staff, would like to thank each of sponsors and donors for each and every single contribution that you have made thus far. The children that come from the villages of India, are inadequately prepared to meet life. But through the help of education and by attending our boarding school they are now presented with a chance to better their horizons.
Our children come from a wide and diverse cultural and ethnic background. This country has extremes in all areas. You can find the wettest place on earth in the east while we have the dry deserts in the west, to the picturesque apple orchards in the North and to the fields of rice in the south.
As you travel by car, you will be amazed as pass through some of the most populated areas to wide open fields with a house far of in the distance. You may come across forests with exotic animals, such as Tigers, elephants, peacocks, a variety of deer and monkeys or the serene scenes of the large tea gardens or the ancient forts and palaces of the years gone by. Being the most populated country in the world, India occupies 2.4% of the world's land area and supports over 17% of the world’s population.
By partnering with us, you bring hope to the children and delight to their family. The average income that our children’s parents is less than $3 per day. Although they have access to early education through various initiatives, many of our children’s parents desire that their children receive an education at our ACI schools simply because of the wholistic and compassionate atmosphere, where they are not just a number but a person. Where they have a chance to learn and better their language and speaking skills, develop life time friendships and improve their overall cognitive abilities.
Today, although the world is changing at a rapid pace, we find ourselves at the crossroads. Yes, the program does need a more robust financial structure, but at its heart, it is the humanitarian touch to every single child in our program, ensuring that they have home away from home, where they are loved for who they are, and not for where they come from.
